Here is some good advice for things you should and shouldn’t do when maintaining computer system and network.
- Don’t open the PC’s case unless you first turn off and unplug the power cord.
- Don’t run the Defrag utility on an SSD, a media card, or a thumb drive.
- Don’t download unknown software from the Internet.
- Don’t use excessive force if things don’t quite slip into place.
- Don’t touch the IC’s and hold the components by the edges when repairing computer.
- Do use anti-virus software and keep it up to date.
- Do use personal protective equipment in accordance with organization’s OHS procedures and practices.
- Do always discharge yourself before touching any part of the computer.
- Do wear rubber sole shoes when standing on the ground or in a concrete floor.
- Do always power off and unplug the computer before working on it.
- Do replace only fuses with those proper rating.
- Do read and follow instructions on the manual carefully.
